Joel Cooper – “I’m always looking for new ways to finish my origami.
Joel Cooper has been playing around with some solvent-based paints which he has used to create effects that make the paper look more like glazed ceramic.
He had used a band of corrugation as a decorative motif across the top of this mask as well as the Charlemagne mask above.
This is something new to him but a technique that has been well employed by other folders like Ray Schamp and Andrea Russo and many others.
his detailed and expressive mask was folded from a single piece of paper. Layers of flame red, yellow and gold enamel paints gives it a bold look. Barbarossa is sure to get attention.
This one of a kind piece of origami measures approximately 28 cm. tall by 19 cm. wide and 6 cm. deep.
Helios is an origami mask folded from a single piece of elephant hide paper and painted with layers of metallic and earth pigments to create a golden bronze surface.
