Lips Series 1.10 – Authenticity
2010, pencil on paper, 19.8” x 25.6″
I’ve started to work as a freelance artist in 1989 at the age of 18 after my lateral entry into the final year Arts School St. Gallen, Switzerland.
Back then I had to find a reasonable answer to the question: Why should I do what I do? Without a good answer I would have stopped working as an artist immediately.

Lips Series 2.10 – Aspiration
2010, pencil on paper, 19.8” x 25.6”
My work is about showing other points of view on life and everything, hopefully by making an inspiring impact on the viewer’s perception. Art is a creative aspect of life. It is for opening up new perspectives.

Lips Series 3.10 – Indiscretion
2010, pencil on paper, 19.8” x 25.6”
It’s very important to spare no effort and not to loose patience. On the one hand I see it as a kind of meditation as can’t waiting to see the finished work, on the other hand it keeps me staying tuned on going ahead. Therefore the challenge is to keep patience and impatience balanced.

Lips Series 4.11 – Innocence
2011, pencil on paper, 19.8” x 25.6”

Lips Series 5.11 – Wealth

Inspiration can happen everywhere at anytime – while talking to a related party, playing with my kids, watching a movie, reading a book…
… the idea for the Lips Series goes back to thinking about the power of words, truth and lies, perception, (self-)consciousness and the ambivalence of life.
