ANDRES KAL PAINTINGS.
“i’m trying to catch the tiny instant where the sitter falls on a state that I call: “the perfect moment” where the subject is floating on a kind of introspection state unaware of their surroundings and their reality is drowned by their own thoughts. When i succeed in this quest it, is unique and beautiful: A conquer over other realities. it is the truest evidence against forgetfulness.”
I started to draw and publishing my work at the age of 17 on a local newspaper. Since then i decided to become a designer and illustrator so i went to university to studied Graphic Design and made a living as an editorial illustrator for magazines, newspapers and did comercial artwork for renowned agencies and products.
Getting fed up of working for the media, i decided to change my own path on 2007. I challenged myself to pursuit a career as a painter. Since then oil Painting has been my personal way of expression. I decided to take a break and I moved to London in 2008 and traveled around Europe for almost three years. i attended to every exhibitions, galleries and met every artist i found there and took drawing seasonal classes in The Prince’s Drawing School in London learning as much as i can and shared artistic experiences with others local artist.
I came back to my country and since then i have been connected with my dreams trying to figure it out the way of my creativity dictates through my art in my own studio.
Typography, geometry and colour shapes from my design background are taken over the canvas, breaking, crossing and melting with the study of human body, mainly portraiture.
