Shadows, Blooms, and Resilience: The Expressive World of Jess Currier.

Born in 1989 along California’s rugged Central Coast, Jess Currier’s artistic voice was shaped by the quiet, wild beauty of the botanical world. Childhood hours spent wandering outdoors kindled a lifelong fascination with nature—a creative spark that persisted through early explorations of photography and graphic design, ultimately finding its permanent home in oil painting.

Currier’s formal journey took off at York College of Pennsylvania, where she earned her BFA in 2014, taking first place in her senior exhibition. After a successful solo debut in 2015 and a multi-disciplinary career in art direction and commercial interior design, she made a definitive leap in 2017 to focus entirely on her canvas.

This rigorous dedication led her to the Academy of Art University, where she earned her MFA in 2020 after an inspiring period of study in Florence, Italy.

Today, Currier’s work brilliantly straddles the line between realism and impressionism. Utilizing bold, textural brushwork and a masterful play of light and shadow, she overlays her figurative portraits with translucent, diaphanous floral patterns.

These ethereal blooms serve as emotional vessels, capturing the fleeting highs of human joy and the heavy quiet of deep loss. Beautiful, nostalgic, and deeply expressive, Currier’s paintings view the pursuit of beauty not just as an aesthetic choice, but as a brave rebellion against despair.

Currently based in Los Angeles within the world’s largest artist-in-residence community, Currier paints, teaches, and shares her globally collected vision with the world. #oilpainting #contemporaryart #botanicalart #figurativepainting #artgallery #jesscurrier #oilpainting #contemporaryart #botanicalart #figurativepainting #artgallery
