Da autodidatta impara per attitudine la tecnica del disegno, la formale rappresentazione del vero e lo studio anatomico nella rappresentazione del corpo umano. Nella scultura Ermanno Leso trova la capacità di cogliere l’elemento di armonia della vita, l’attimo eterno sospeso in cui l’immagine diviene forma, possibilità perenne, cioè il segreto mirabile di faticato, sofferto sì, ma realizzato equilibrio.
