My story begins in 1975, in the great city of Barcelona, but soon, with 7 years, we went to live on the Costa Dorada, in front of the sea. The Mediterranean has always been very present in my life for many years, was the last thing to go to sleep hearing, and the first thing I heard when I woke up. There were many summers spent on the beach, doing what is now known as snorkel (for us was just going with mask, snorkel and ducks) by breakwaters.
After traveling around Australia in 2000, and have to limit myself to snorkel in the Great Barrier, I decided I had to learn to dive. Thus it was in 2001, along with Monica, we made our first course. From there, many dives and trip some other, made this passion, was increasing.
I started in the world of underwater photography over there 2005 with a compact camera. Gradually I was expanding my team until finally, in 2008 I evolved the SLR world.
The beauty of what we found under water, is the force that pushes me to get better and better photos. What I want to show what is unknown to most people, it is to try to respect more our seas, and that we realize how important they are.
On this website, you will find a selection of photographs that I have done in these years, both in the Mediterranean and other seas.
I hope you like, and if I wake my photos 1% of the passion I feel for the sea, and I will be satisfied.
Jordi Benitez.
