Ros Newman interest in movement is very evident in her work, as is her love of both human and animal form.
Since having been involved with the first Bergh Apton Sculpture Trial in 1997 Ros Newman has also been making outdoor work, first with chickens and cockerels and later with flights of stainless steel birds for which she is now well known
Ros Newman discovered her unique method of modelling with steel while she was at art school. The Alwin Gallery in London gave her her first one man show in 1971 and she stayed with them for the next thirty years, making welded steel sculpture which is small and intimate and only suitable for indoors.
