Someone said: “Books are not made for furniture, but there is nothing else that so beautifully furnishes a house” and I agree.
I have always loved books, as much for their content as for what they look like. I love their smell too. Now I find old books (and sometimes new ones) that will either look good or will tell a story other than the one written inside. I know: sounds pompous but it works for me. I am particularly amazed at some of the wonderful colours on covers of some 19th century books which must have been wonderful presents. And also how the quality of the paper changes from one book to the other, depending of its age. So I give some of those really old and unloved books a new life and a new purpose. I hope I don’t offend anyone and that some of you will like my finished products enough to buy them!
