Mixed-Media Paintings by Arghavan Khosravi .
Painter Arghavan Khosravi was raised in Tehran, Iran. Khosravi’s work is deeply connected to her own personal experience of the culture and politics of her homeland of Iran that probe both personal and political experiences by integrating historical motifs with imagery taken from popular culture and contemporary media.
In 2018, she received an MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design after completing a post-baccalaureate in studio art at Brandeis University. Prior to that, Khosravi earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Islamic Azad University of Tehran and an MFA in Illustration from University of Tehran. Her selected exhibitions include the Yossi Milo Gallery; Fridman Gallery; Asya Geisberg Gallery, Morgan Lehman Gallery, and Super Dutchess Gallery, all in New York City; the Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI; Provincetown Art Association and Museum in Provincetown, MA; Museum of Contemporary Art, Yinchuan, China as well as Homa Gallery in Tehran, Iran. Khosravi’s residencies include the Fine Arts Work Center, Provincetown, MA; the Studios at MassMoCA, North Adams, MA; Monson Arts, Monson, ME; and Residency Unlimited, Brooklyn, NY. She is a 2017-8 recipient of the Walter Feldman Fellowship. Her work is in the collection of the Rhode Island of School of Design Museum in Providence and Newport Art Museum both in Rhode Island as well as many private collections.
Khosravi has most recently exhibited in a group show at the Museum of Contemporary Art Yinchuan in China, and in SPRING/BREAK, a part of New York’s Armory week. You can see more of her detailed, multi-layered paintings on Instagram.
