Lindsay Rapp Statement:As many have done in mythology,
I relate the beauty of water to feminine deity. I see water as life giving, fertile, powerful, sensual, changing and mysterious. It has long been equated with the feminine aspects of creation, nature and spirituality. In my art, my brush strokes mimic expressions of water through how I paint, creating currents, splashes, fluidity and an overall sense of flow. Oceanic blues fill my palette evoking peace, clarity and tranquility. I am also inspired by water’s glimmering interaction with light.
I discovered a unique technique that I haven’t seen before; to imitate the effects of water’s refractive nature, I use rare precious materials such as genuine mother of pearl, real abalone shell, dichroic metallic and layers of translucent, reflective Mylar. The harmony of these elements together create my interpretation of the sea in relation to elated emotions, magic & femininity.
Born and raised in Clearwater, Florida, Lindsay had an apparent artistic ability from the age of four.
